Humtank is a think tank for research and education in the humanities, aiming to to strengthen the role of the humanities within and outside academic institutions, and to demonstrate their relevance to society.
The think tank was launched in 2014 as the result of an unparalleled collaboration between a dozen Swedish universities. Currently, fourteen universities are part of Humtank.
Humtank works across the board to influence research policy, the distribution of university resources, and – not least – change the public’s conception of and attitude toward the humanities. The think tank highlights humanities issues through annual reports, debate articles in the media, reflections on Humtankar, and by organizing seminars and panel discussions at events such as the Gothenburg Book Fair and the Almedalen Week in Visby. Furthermore, Humtank monitors the world from a humanities perspective and highlights new humanities research and knowledge.
